The Benedictine monk David Steindl-Rast, a scholar and teacher of gratitude, defines the practice as “the inner gesture of giving meaning to our life by receiving life as a gift”.

Today we sit in gratitude for the many gifts in our lives including the friendships and partnerships that sustain and inspire us. We’re thankful for our family and friends – for their good health and good fortune. We’re grateful for our community and the beauty and bounty of nature that surrounds us. We feel joy in the endeavors of our neighbors – both local and global.

We’re grateful for work that allows us to partner with families and organizations that know need, hunger, disease, and despair do not take holidays. It’s our commitment to grow in alignment with our partners and our shared values to amplify joy.

“The root of joy is gratefulness…It is not joy that makes us grateful; it is gratitude that makes us joyful.” ― David Steindl-Rast
